It's me here just writing a little post about one of my favourite items of clothing... bras! I adore lingerie because it can make a woman feel sexy both on the inside and the outside. There is a loooooooong list of bras that I am looking to own but I have managed to narrow it down to a few of my favourite picks:
Von Follies by Dita Von Teese - Grand Dame bra in black/animal print
This is a recent purchase of mine which I am hoping to receive next week. When I saw it on sale for £7.50 in Debenhams I just knew that I needed to buy it. This bra is available in Debenhams in chest sizes 32-38 and cup sizes A-E. I just love the cut out section on the cup and the leopard print gives a wild naughty feel. I am also a massive fan of Dita and her lingerie line is incredible!
What Katie Did (WKD) - Marlene bullet bra
I adore the look of this What Katie Did bullet bra. WKD are one of the leading lingerie companies that specialise in vintage style lingerie. This bra is a sure thing to achieve a look that says 'sassy 50s sweater girl who packs a punch of bad ass attitude'. This bra isn't for the faint-hearted. If you aren't feeling brave, they stock some softer bras that will still give an authentic retro shape. This bra retails at £39.50 and is also available on the website in chest sizes 32-38 and cup sizes B-E.
House of Satin - Satin full coverage bra
If you're a pinup on a budget (and lets face it, who doesn't love a good bargain?) then House of Satin is the lingerie provider for you. Not only are these bras fantastic value (this one retails at £9.95) but they are all handmade to order here in the UK. Available on the website in chest sizes 32-44 and cup sizes A-F you cannot deny that they accommodate a range of sizes (and if you ask them nicely enough they will make a bra in your size e.g. 30G). These bras give a soft vintage shape which is not a bullet shape, but more pointed than the modern bra. Available in a range of colours.
Marks and Spencer (Rosie for Autograph) - Lace balcony bra
One of the high street shops that I am impressed with in terms of selection of lingerie is M&S. They always have good sales and offer smaller chest sizes for us petite girls. This bra caught my eye. Although simple, it has a certain elegance and class about it. The lace frill on the straps just adds the perfect balance of delicacy and sexiness. Retailing at £27.50 and available in chest sizes 30-38 and cup sizes A-DD (they also offer a DD+ range).
For true authenticity (although your worth as a pinup is never defined by how 'authentic' you are), it would be worth searching for true vintage lingerie in charity shops, eBay and respectable vintage shops. It is important to understand that vintage sizes vary so ensure that you have the right information before you buy anything off the internet. A poor fitting bra can be damaging to breast tissue so please be safe! I hope you enjoyed this post. Feel free to comment, follow or find me on Instagram (@callthestudentnurse).
