Vivien of Holloway Grace dress - One dress, two styles

One of my favourite vintage reproduction companies Vivien of Holloway sent me the beautiful Grace dress in black sateen. This exquisite dress has been at the top of my 'list of wants' ever since I saw it in their boutique down Holloway Road. The cross-over neck line, capped sleeves and circle skirt exude glamour and sophistication. It is also important for me to be able to wear something over and over again - and this dress provides the opportunity for it to be dressed up and worn to a special event or dressed down for more of a day-to-day look.

The Grace dress retails at £110. The quality of the fabric is excellent and has a secure heavy feel to it (which I love in a dress - I know it isn't going to blow away at any second!)  The fit is true to size and as it is sateen, has much more of a stretch than the duchess halterneck dress I featured here. Make sure you measure your waist ladies and go by that size against the Vivien of Holloway size chart.

The first style I wanted to show you was a more 'dressy' style. The use of more formal accessories such as a fascinator, shrug or sparkling jewels can all help achieve a glamorous evening look. In the photographs below (taken by my wonderful boyfriend/part time photographer Danny), I am wearing a fascinator, silver jewellery and belt and a silver clutch bag. I am planning on wearing this ensemble for the In Retrospect magazine launch later this week! I also wore a petticoat to 'fluff up' the circle skirt and give it that beautiful full shape.

Mmm that cocktail was delicious!!!
The other style I did was a bit more of a casual look. I paired the dress with a beret, neck tie and some glasses (record player optional!) You could also wear with flats, a cropped cardigan or anything else to make it more of a relaxed look (although I still felt pretty fabulous in this dress - it's hard not to be!) I removed my petticoat for this look.

"How do I work this thing?!"

I hope you enjoyed this post about the lovely Grace dress which you can purchase here.
